quanty HSV-1

The quanty HSV-1 system is an vitro diagnostic test for identification and quantification of HSV-1  genome, by Real-Time PCR.

Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) are members of the alpha herpesvirus subfamily of the Family Herpesviridae. HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections are common worldwide. In immunocompetent individuals, HSV infections most commonly are asymptomatic or present as orolabial or genital herpes. Solid organ transplantation (SOT) recipients are subject to more frequent episodes of reactivation, prolonged duration of symptoms and shedding, increased severity of infection, and a greater potential for dissemination. Mucocutaneous lesions make up the majority of HSV disease in transplant populations, and of these, orolabial lesions are the most common presentation. Anogenital lesions are the second most common presentation of HSV disease in SOT recipient followed by HSV pneumonia that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In severe infections, it is essential to obtain an early and rapid diagnosis of the infection. Quantitative HSV-1 and HSV-2 Real-Time PCR test represents an indispensable diagnostic tool to recognize and monitoring congenital infections.
