quanty Adenovirus

The quanty Adenovirus system is an in vitro diagnostic test for identification and quantification of the hexon gene region of Adenovirus genome, by Real-Time PCR. The quanty Adenovirus kit allows the detection of all known Adenovirus serotypes.

Human adenoviruses (hAdVs) infect billions of people worldwide and cause various diseases (conjunctivitis, respiratory infectious disease, diarrhea in infants and young children etc.). Sometimes the infection may also provoke serious illnesses such as pneumonia or epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC). These more serious outcomes occur in all age groups and can possibly trigger highly contagious nosocomial infections. Furthermore, Adenovirus infection in immunosuppressed patients, such as transplant and immunodeficient patients (including those with AIDS), represents a major problem and in many cases leads to lethal outcomes. Adenovirus detection and quantification by Real-Time PCR is essential to quickly set up an appropriate antiviral treatment and prevent serious complications.
